Master Paul Woods Wirral Taekwondo was founded in 1992 by Master Paul Woods 6th degree blackbelt along with his sons Neil & Mark and wife Julie. 

​

Since then Master Paul Woods Wirral Taekwondo has grown from strength to strength and developed over 1000 blackbelts, had over 10,000 students and had over 1000 1st placed places in both sparring and patterns in various north west competitions.

​

Unfortunately & sadly in 2017 Master Paul Woods passed away. The club in the present is run by Master Paul Woods's sons Master Mark Woods 6th degree blackbelt, Mr Neil Woods 3rd degree blackbelt and Paul's Wife Julie who is the clubs secretary.

​

Master Paul Woods Wirral Taekwondo is part of the organisation NAKMAS (national association of karate and martial art schools). Nakmas is britians only independent national governing body for both traditional and modern martial arts and has a membership of 65,000 members. This is made up for 80% children and 20% adults from all walks of life, practising all different forms of martial arts.

At Master Paul Woods Wirral Taekwondo we promote a place for everyone to enjoy to get away from the stresses of school life and work life. we make training as fun as we can but whilst also learning taekwondo and the history of our sport.

What is Taekwondo?

Taekwondo is a korean martial art that focuses on kicking techniques, self defence and physical fitness. taekwondo simply mean, hand, foot, way of life.

Is Taekwondo for all ages?

Yes, Taekwondo is suitable for all ages, from children to adults and can be practiced at any fitness level. we provide classes for 3-5 year olds and above.

What should i wear for Taekwondo classes?

We wear a traditional Taekwondo uniform called a Dobok, which is typically a white jacket and pants. beginners can wear t-shirt, trousers or shorts.

How often should i attend Taekwondo classes?

We recommend you should attend twice a week to see progress and improvement.

Can i compete in Taekwondo tournaments?

Yes, we have plenty of opportunities for students to compete in tournament in inter clubs and local tournaments

Will Taekwondo help my self confidence?

Yes, Taekwondo can help improve self confidence, discipline, focus and overall mental well being

Are there belt rankings in Taekwondo?

Yes, Taekwondo uses a belt ranking system to signify a students skill level, with colored belts signifying different ranks.

How can i get started with Taekwondo classes?

Are your Taekwondo instructors DBS/CRB checked?

Yes, all our Taekwondo instructors have undergone disclosure and barring service or criminal records bureau checks to ensure the safety and security of our students.

Are your Taekwondo instructors trained in first aid?

Yes, our taekwondo instructors are trained in first aid to handle any potential injuries or emergencies that many occur during training classes.
